Welcome to FASTURD.com.
Although the site is getting pretty dated, as I haven't been racing online now for several years, I still find myself enjoying having a net presence and am constantly amazed that there are still leagues and NASCAR 2002 racers out there that are still linking to my site for tracks. As recently as December of 2011, I received an email from someone asking permission to edit one of my tracks for a project he was working on for a league in Australia... how amazing is that?FASTURD HISTORY
First things first I suppose... what the heck is FASTURD? Well, its a long story, but lets just say it is an acronym that evolved over a few years of online racing. At an early point in racing in a small league, some of the guys started teaming up to work together on the super speedway races like Daytona and Talladega. Then things got a little more organized and "teams" started forming. Guys that were sharing setups and testing together named their teams and league racing was never quite the same. After the first few guys teamed up, I found myself "alone" for a race with no official "team mates" and I kidded that no one wanted poor old Foz on a team, so i was going to make my own team... "The Unwanted Racecar Driver"... or a TURD. I thought it was kinda funny, and it sure made for a lot of not-so-witty jokes about Turd spills, TURD on the track, etc etc.. you get the drift.
After a few weeks, the whole TURD thing became a running joke and surprisingly, there were other guys who wanted to be TURDS too. But I had a good thing going, so I decided to be selective about who could be a TURD. After all, I had coined something pretty special here and wanted to keep the team tight. Online racing was. I suppose, still is best when guys treat each other with some respect, and I always prided myself on racing guys clean, being patient for an opportunity to pass, and not causing wrecks on the track. Nothing worse that spending hours getting ready for a race, only to have the night cut short my some dude diving under you on a restart and wrecking the whole field. So, I was careful to only add drivers to the TURD stable who I thought raced as I did. Eventually the team consisted of 4 guys, and although we were always thought of as TURDS, I decided a new acronym was needed, so it became Foz And Some Totally Unstoppable Racecar Drivers... or the FASTURDS.
I liked the play on words with Bastards, and Fast... so FASTURD it was.
